GAME VIBES

Is this a memory loss game? Why can't my character remember their name?
Yes and no! The only thing a character is required to forget is their real name/name they go by in canon. If you WANT, other aspects of their life can also be forgotten (such as their role/job/an Important Event)! All other aspects of their life are retained perfectly. If a castmate apps, they will suddenly have forgotten their name, too.

As for why, game wise it's for plot reasons. OOCly, it's fun to make up nicknames for teammates.

What's the Game Tone?
Pasture is a free-form team/character driven game with a lot of freedom for spontaneous events to happen while also having an underlying plot with DARK elements. The push is for PVE, some mild pvp, and survival though, but with a bit of a comedic brush.

How long does this game plan to run?
That will depend on the playerbase to be honest! I have it worked out where this game can run anywhere from 3 months to 2 years. Here's hoping for the latter!

My character is not a human! Must they become a human for this game??
No! Your character can come as they are, whatever they are. However, if they are like, a fucking giant, please max out their size at 10 feet, or whatever can comfortably sleep in a house.

Will there be Trauma Games?
80% of the reason I'm reviving this is because I want to run new fucked up games and events, so yes.

So how do Events/Games works?
Basically, events and games are held anywhere from once a month as game wide event, to mini events! By participating in posts or events like these, your team earns boons and rewards!!

Later, players will be able to run their own events/games, but typically most mod-events will be a week to a month long to allow for engagement from everyone! SOMETIMES plot-specific events will happen at a scheduled time, but I will be sure to give as much heads up as possible. However, sometimes spontaneous stuff may happen! My goal is to have a good mix of free-form long term events AND some smaller scheduled games.

How are teams/herds sorted?
It's a mystery. That said at the moment, in your app, please let me know what does and does NOT work for you, and I"ll make sure you're on the comfiest team possible!!

I am not vibing with my team! What do??
If you've tried and your team isn't for you, you can drop and reapp the character fresh/no memories on to a different team! You can also transfer to another team by becoming a Weed.

A problem player is doing something oocly!! What will you do about it!!
Well first, you gotta let me know. Just PM this account or tell me UN-ANON what's going on and give me links/support, and I will handle it accordingly. Communication is super important here, especially since it's a team game, so let me know what's going on.

A problem CHARACTER is being a problem ICly, but it's starting to have negative consequences and not in the fun way!
Welp, firstly, remember IC actions have IC consequences! That said, if a character is ICly giving others a hard time and starting to become a burden to their team, your pal Stormy has a way of dealing with that. We will deal if it comes up and the characters aren't able to resolve the situation ICly.

I specifically have a little problem with another player though this does not impact the game on the whole nor does it impact my playing, the team, or anyone else, it just bothers ME, PERSONALLY!
Talk to the other player before coming to me I freaking swear. If it escalates, we all can sit down and chat like adults. I am 30+ years old I don't have time for petty shit.

Is sex allowed???
I mean. Yes?? But at any given point you will have a bunch of tiny sheep watching, bleating, and blushing at you unless you're in the barn. Heck even then some sheep may interrupt you. And do you really want to try that on hay or grass???

That said, if you're really set on it, go for it, but no sex is allowed on the comm. Take that to your journals, buddy.

MECHANICS

What is Herd Mentality?
Herd Mentality is what powers the world!! The more you do with your team, the more it helps power the world! The sheep citizens are empty husks that need to learn from the people brought here. Also, doing activities with your team enables you to summon items such as new outfits or furnish new rooms you've earned via upgrades. More on this HERE

Where are games held?
There is no dedicated space for games, though will always start within the Pasture. After the first game, whenever one starts, a field will be created 'reboot' style, and anyone caught within that field will be participating in the game! This is to create a opt-out excuse for not wanting to be in the game or missing it and whatnot.

What is the IC motivation to win games/events though??
Those will vary for each event! But winning games will primarily effect the setting in different ways. For example, there is currently no proper revival mechanic in game. Sure would be convenient if winning a game created one, HINT HINT. Additionally characters will also be able to win items from home via the games.

How do upgrades and item regains work?
There are no points based purchases in the pasture--everything is based on deals! Basically, if you want something Specific, you have to ask a NPC and get a quest or a vague task to help create it. Additionally, Blossom will explain that the area is fueled by HERD MENTALITY as mentioned above, so doing lots of stuff with your team will also net you some bonuses!

Basically, if you want to upgrade your barn - get a deal/quest from Stormy/Blossom/Red
Item from home - get a deal/quest from Red
Outfits or furnishing current rooms - Team Activity to summon items.

I want X building to exist! Can it??
Yes! As long as it is not something essential/something that will make getting resources easier (ie food places, clothing stores, laundry, etc), if you want a building to exist, the sheep citizens will build it into (temporary) existence for you. As a general rule, most entertainment buildings are a-okay; skating rinks, spas, a park, a theater for use for a post, etc.

How does time work?
At the moment, the game will operate on flex time, with roughly 3 days = 1 IC day. This is so time isn't passing ridiculously quickly, and allows for backdated posting. Also bear in mind the world does NOT reflect real time whatsoever, so while there may be occasional holiday themed posts, there is no Christmas or Halloween or New Years and such in the Pasture.

IS THERE A NETWORK/PHONES?
No phones, but there is ASTRAL PROJECTION!! Which is just a fancy way of saying two way radio via spiritual avatars. More info in that post and the ooc post linked to it! Additionally, with astral projection, characters can share dreams via dream posts if people feel like doing so.

I want to have a hunting thread!! How do Playable NPCs work?
Once a creature has been revealed to the world, you're free to NPC them at will (OR TAP ME and i will npc them for you). You can do this by including their action in your own comments, or simply logging into the NPC account (log in will be provided later) and playing them that way. Whatever is easier/more fun.

If you'd like someone else to NPC something for you, that is fine! Just give a shout to a friend and let them take the wheel, or if need be, give me a poke and I'll run the thread for you. The only NPCs this is a no no for are the non playable ones over in the NPC list area.

What happens if you die?
Death alternates between being permanent and reversible depending on the Eye--see information here! If they die while the eye is open, they will be trapped in a hellish void, tortured and reminded of past regrets and transgressions. Then they will disappear into Nothing and find peace if their soul isn't fished out when the eye is closed.

How do Power Levels work?
Everyone maxes out at a level 30 cap! Which is to say, a normal person may punch a tree, and go ow, while Goku could punch a tree without hurting himself, but he's also not going to uproot the tree. Basically, strong characters will still be strong, but more like a step above 'badass normal' than supernaturally so.

Some special events may alter this tho!

Are Canon Powers allowed?
Yes!! See above re level capping tho. However, special items are NOT allowed, or rather, you'll have to do quests to get them back. So things like Visions, magical gems, pens, etc?? You can function but you gotta get a quest to get that shit back if you wanna have your powers proper.

My character is a Vampire/Zombie/Whatever what do??
Idk man that's not my problem have fun making negative or positive cr with other people.

Is there a way home and/or how does dropping and reapping work?
Blossom is working hard on finding a way to send people home!! That said, if a character drops and reapps, they do in fact, go home for a bit! Faintly remembering their time as a weird dream. For permanent drops, characters will have to option to simply disappear (Blossom will confirm they were sent home, and there will be a way for characters to check) or they've gone into the Mist. What happens there??? Also a mystery.

For hiatuses, a character can just go get lost, or will be sent to the sleeping sheep pile. Don't worry about it. The drop/hiatus post is HERE!

WORLD INFO

Are the sheep like, actual sheep?
All the sheep are stylized mini sheep, most standing at about 2-3 feet tall. There are exceptions, and those will be noted when they appear.

Can the sheep talk?? What do they do??
Aside from Stormy and Blossom, the sheep citizens do not talk! They are very stupid, mostly empty husks, and will mostly stare at you with dumbfounded reverence. If something is needed (like wanting to build a building) it can be assumed the sheep are helping. Otherwise they are basically useless and they will watch you fuck if you let them.

What happens if you eat a sheep?
Mutton is delicious. Blossom will cry and ask you to stop eating the sheep citizens, and if you keep doing it Stormy will kick your ass.

How do Blossom and Stormy ping?
Very magical very secret. Just normal sheep here, don't worry about it.

OKAY BUT WHERE DO WE GET FOOD??
The ONLY food available in the pasture includes:
-the fruit that grows on your team tree
-grass and kale and iceberg lettuce in the cafeteria
-random small (snack sized) misc candies that can be found/bartered at Red's shop, think gas station or conbini style junk food.
-Plain ice cream, milk, and butter from daisy. The ice cream doesn't even have vanilla flavoring, but she generally knows where to find resources.

To find more varied food you will either have to forage/hunt outside the pasture or talk to Red/Daisy to get special shit (read: canon stuff) imported.

My character is starting a garden!! How long does it take plants to grow??
For playability sake, it takes one OOC week for most foods to grow/replenish! Two weeks for super rare, more complicate plants/foods, which I'll indicate if they come up.

You wake up in a dreary, cold room, body aching, head spinning. . .no, wait. It's actually the opposite. You're laying on your back on a patch of soft, sweet smelling grass, with the sound of cicadas and grasshoppers whistling in the distance. The sun is bright, but not harsh, gently beaming down, coaxing you awake.

As you stir, you hear a jingle, a ringing. It's coming from you! Sitting up, bringing a hand to your neck, you'll find a collar, one with a simple bell attached to the front. Tug all you might, it can't be removed. Weird, right? There's a quaint little pond near you, the water conveniently crisp and blue. Inspecting your reflection, you notice the bell is a very distinct color. For whatever reason, you feel that's pretty fitting of you. . .

. . .

You? Wait, who the heck are you?

As you sit there distracted, wondering why you can't recall your name while every other detail of your life is crystal clear, two little creatures wander up. They are sheep, one pink, one black.

"O-oh, oh! You're awake! I'm so sorry, this is all a b-b-big mistake!" "Baahaha! You say that every time! Whatever, whatever, we'll fix it, let's not dawdle!" "O-oh, okay, you're right. Come now, you need to meet your flock!"

Are you still dreaming? You probably feel like it. There's not much time to think on it it though, as the two sheep take advantage of your confused state, taking your hand and leading you away.

SHEEP GAME is a. . .sheep game. It is a character driven team-oriented game with both dark and comedic elements. The name of the game is character development, CR building, and world development and that's what these sheep are pushing. There is an over-arching plot that will be revealed as the story goes on!!

The Rundown

Welcome to the Pasture (Sheep Game), where the focus is CR building and character development!

This is a team based game, which means every character apped is sorted to a color coded Flock! When characters wake up, before they can react, they will find themselves being thrown into their appropriate barn by a bunch of sheep.

The Flocks
There are currently 6 flocks! Daffodil, Bluebell, Lily, Rose, Clover, and Thistle, members wearing Yellow, Blue, White, Red, Green, and Purple collars w/ bells respectively. More info on flocks here!

Every flock has an area with a fenced in flowery meadow (peppered with tiny sheep dyed their team color), fruit tree, and a barn that serves as the team hub. Each barn holds 6 rooms, (3 on the bottom, 3 up top), a main living area, and a connected portapotty that somehow serves as a fully functional bathroom. Currently, every single room is full of hay. Hay up to your knees. This can change based on Team Participation!

Teams are free to move within each others meadows and other areas, nothing stopping them as the fences are exactly three feet high. Actual sheep seem to have trouble with that, though. Maybe other teams will try to stop you though!

The bells every team wears are unable to be removed, no matter the effort. The bells also have the effect of making every character feel far safer when more of their team is around.

Shepherds
Shepherds are a unique brand of team member! Their bells are not around their neck, but rather, tied to a shepherd's staff they will receive once waking up. Only one shepherd can be apped to a team!

The purpose of shepherd will be revealed at a later date, but they have three distinct "powers" that set them apart:
- Shepherds can locate most Sheep if they are lost or have wandered too far off. Very helpful in emergency situations, or if they feel like bugging their teammates.
- Shepherds do not need to sleep. They can still get exhausted, however, and probably should, but if they wanted to go on a 3 day baking spree they can also do this. This is probably not healthy!!
- [A SURPRISE]

If you app as a shepherd but eventually want to hand it off, you can! Your team will just need to decide who should be the new shepherd oocly and I will handle it.

OKAY, BUT WHAT DO WE DO?
JUST RELAX AND HAVE FUN, EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE!! ...well, that's what Blossom says. Every character has free run over the overall meadow, and access to Woolie Town.

There, the sheep have prepared as much as possible to keep their new guests cozy. However, they are sheep and thus, stupid and every place is not yet Great. There's a movie theater, though mysteriously every actor is now a sheep. There's also a mysterious shop, and an ice cream parlor. . .though, you can read more about those on the NPC and Locations page.

Don't forget the cafeteria! Have to keep everyone fed after all! Except, well, these are sheep. The only things they know how to make are salads. Greens, greens, greens. Occasionally there are clovers. Every character has access to the kitchen itself, but they won't find anything in there but more grass and lettuce.

Basically, characters will find themselves starving and living in a pretty crappy barn for a long while if they don't take matters into their own hands.

Events and Games
Sometimes, due to Magic or IC Consequences, games and events will happen! These can range to scheduled games for a few hours, or month long tasks/themes to interact with. Along with having to hunt/gather food, events and games will be the primary method to better your lives in the pasture!!

There is no dedicated 'arena' for games to happen, but more on that when shit starts happening.

The Big Fence
There is one more fence surrounding the entire Pasture, one no sheep dare to step over. . .mostly because they can't, as it stands at a whopping 5 feet. Wow. For player characters, climbing or opening it is an easy task.

Beyond the fence is a vast lake, a great wide field, and a dark forest. Blossom has said Mythical beings called "Farmers" used to hunt for their own food out there, and meditate by the water with a ritual they called "Fishing." If they want actual food, they'll have to go out and find it.

But be warned, the Big Fence was built for a reason. Beyond the forest and across the lake, misty clouds can be seen in the distance, and no land can be seen through it. Getting too close is dangerous, Blossom warns, and staying out can be b-b-bad! Well, there's plenty to explore and discover as is, so no need to go poke it, right? Right. Of course, should they stay out regardless, characters may find their bells starting to ring on their own.

So why go out?? Well, if characters want more food and resources, they HAVE to go explore, so have fun with that!

Big version that's easier to read
Go here for SETTING INSPO and Vibes!

Woolietown is where all the tiny sheep live, and also where players can hang out! Points of interest include:
-The Fountain
-Cafeteria
-Theater and Rec Room (+Arcade | +Library)
-Lighthouse
-Laundromat
-Lazy River
-Athletic Center
-Greenhouse (+ Mist)
-Wood Workshop
-Clinic (+ Lab)
-The Bounce Field
-Weeds Clubhouse
-The JailHouse
-Coffee Station
-Red's Shop
-Daisy's parlor.
-Daisy's Maze
-The Beach
-The Hot Springs
-The Community Theater
-Dream Daycare
-Wastelands
-The Lake
-The Forest
-The Mist
-Notable Player Additions

Note:There are also a bunch of other smaller shops in WoolieTown, but they are sheep sized so players can't get in. Daisy is a cow and thus her parlor is people sized, and Red is a Big Sheep. Additionally, while all chairs and books and such are functional in the rec room, they may sometimes feel slightly Too Small as they were not made for humans.

More info below!!

The safe pasture is where all the sheep and players preside, surrounded by a huuuuge fence. . .from the sheep's perspective. It's only like, five feet high so player characters can easily climb over it or open the gate. But it does its job and keeps things safe! Each team area is also surrounded by a three foot high fence which..players can also step over.

OUTSIDE the big fence however is wild open meadow!! Players are free to discover anything they wish here--want to find some mountains? A ditch? A dangerous hole full of flesh eating worms?? I'm not sure why, but go for it.

But the main points of interest are the lake and the Weatheram Forest. The lake connects to a river that provides each team a small pond and fresh water, but no fish. If you want fish, and possibly want to discover other creatures, you have to go to the Big Lake itself.

The Forest also houses lots of monsters, creatures, AND resources. Aside from the lake, it's also the only place players will find reliable creatures to hunt for food.

At NIGHTTIME it's more or less the same aside from some nocturnal creatures, but it should be noted that there are two moons in the sky every night.

There is a deep, thick MIST that also surrounds the land; it doesn't cross over into the Pasture, but it covers everything beyond the meadow and forest. Wander too far in it, and you will eventually loop back to the meadow, if you're lucky. If you're unlucky, you may get attacked by Something.

Apping guidelines

To pass an activity check, characters need a minimum of 50 comments across at least 2 threads. A check in post will be posted near the end of every month, and that's pretty much all the warning you get. HOWEVER I reserve the right to scrutinize AC: if I see you scraping by every month and not tagging your team or only showing up to snipe traumatic events? You might get the boot. Please keep this in mind before apping!

Who Can Be Apped
Any character you think would be appropriate! I will tap you if I don't think the character would jive for whatever reason. Also, no PG or CRAUs at this time; however full non-rp AUs of characters are A-Okay.

But WHO CAN APP player wise??
If I know you or am at least aware of you or you are a friend of a friend chances are you are good to app!! If I am like ???? SEEMS SUS I will simply tap you to confirm who you are before accepting your app.

You can currently app onto a flock OR a weed!

APPS
11/26/23 APPS are open, HOWEVER--THERE WILL BE *NO* FLOCK PLACEMENTS UNTIL JANUARY NEXT YEAR, EVEN IF A SLOT IS OPEN. This is to give current players time to settle. Any apps will go into a queue. Thank you!

The app is pretty straight forward:
Your name/Who are you: LET ME KNOW WHO YOU ARE. If I don't know you let me know who referred you!!
Character & Canon Name:
Character Age:

Canon Info: Just a quick link! Just need to know what they from or if they an OC.
