Can it not be both? ... If it's specifics you seek, my studies are about life. The creation and upholding of it. This much I do remember.

I believe it is the purpose the universe itself has chosen.

( if the cloud wants the serum she'll let it have it though!!! wow it sure is green and glowy in an equally ethereal and "oh is that radioactive?" way. it's probably fine. )

From the smallest organisms to that which it became over time. The first plant, the first insect, the first fish, all things grew from a spark born from the universe. And from there, it has spread, evolved, mutated in ways no one could predict. It flourishes in the darkest depths, in harsh climes and against all odds. Is it not wonderful to be part of something like that? To see how it ticks, how it comes together and then push it onwards with your own two hands?
