Re: INTO THE MIST
THE GARDEN
ANYWAY
They continue on for a while, at least an hour or more, trying to be as stealthy as possible, when finally. FINALLY. The lilies stop sprouting.
The mist is strangely thinner in this area. It looks to be something like a garden, full of rosebushes, and overgrown vines and foliage. It might be quite beautiful if it wasn't, y'know. All ashen and grey and dead.
Well, not all of it is completely dead. In the center of the garden is a defunct fountain, overrun with brittle vines, and dead leaves decorating its dry basins. Most interesting is what sits atop the fountain though. A brilliant, sparkling, golden statue. . .of Charon.]
Lovely, isn't it?
[a voice rings out. Some sort of demon sits a bit away on her patio, sipping at some tea.
What's up.]

Re: THE GARDEN
. . . I dunno, your taste seems a little off.
Re: THE GARDEN
Excuse me, ma'am, but you have something that belongs to us.

His posture shifts as soon as he notices the demon, straightening up and pointing his staff at her ]
We're taking him back.

Re: THE GARDEN
Priestess. . .? It's been so long, I nearly didn't recognize you. You look well.
[she takes a sip of her 'tea'. It appears to be blood. It pours through her skull and comes out at the end of her incorporeal tendrils. Then, she rests her chin on her skeletal palm.]
It's also been so long since I've seen such healthy sheep. My my, how are you all? Aside from insulting my taste in decor. . .
But, 'take him back'? You mean to steal this gift? Granted, I did think it was a bit tacky, but how could I say no to such a desperate attempt to win me back? Men truly are so pathetic. It's cute.
Still. . .I've gotten quite used to him. I would be up for a trade though.
[she points at Minuet and Ananke specifically.]
Re: THE GARDEN
Pardon us, madam, for intruding into your private space. We mean no harm, the journey has worn our souls.
Your gift was taken under false pretenses, I'm afraid. I don't think we can part with a trade, but would there be something else you would like? After all, you must be busy - suitor and all.

Re: THE GARDEN
A gift? He was stolen from us. There's no trade to make when we're recovering what's ours.
Re: THE GARDEN
He ain't even a shepherd right now. That's not equivalent at all.

What use do you have for a gold statue in the first place?

Re: THE GARDEN
But you're right. Three days is hardly a minute to my kind, though it does brighten up this oh so drab atmosphere. But what is three days to all of you? Are you truly so attached to a mortal you barely know, so much so you'd risk all your lives.
[a hand to her jaw, giggling]
Men are just. . .so cute.
[she sets aside her teacup and 'stands'. Dry, brittle roots rise up, ensnaring Charon's statue, in case they get any ideas on ganking it and running.]
But now there's an interesting question. Would I like something else? Usually I'd say you're in no position to haggle. . .but I'm quite bored, you see.
So. Show me why I shouldn't keep my new water spout.
[A raise of her hand, and then sharp bones sprout from the ground with the intent to impale. Watch your step!]
