. . . I do not how wise it is for us to believe in him. We know nothing about this snake. Anyone would be suspicious if someone approached you and asked you to take your life.

[It isn't as though he wants to die. On the contrary.]

He offered to lead us to the other side himself, though. I cannot believe he intends to harm us if he intends to take his own life first.

And... I cannot just sit idly by if there is something we might be able to do in order to help everyone. If what he is saying is correct, the situation could grow worse without action.

I may not have very much experience with this sort of thing at all. But neither am I a coward who could turn my back from potentially saving everyone else. It would not be gallant at all.
