[it's a goddamn maze in here. you have a sense at least of consistent downward movement, like you're heading deep underground. your light crosses small office doors set at regular intervals as you turn and walk and turn again, but all of them are unlabelled. some have suspicious marks on them now and again though: dark stains, bullet holes, great splintering gouges from blades or claws.]

[eventually the footprints fade out. they haven't led you to a definitive door, just the middle of a random hallway, so you might feel stymied for a moment.

[ Ananke feels closer to panic than anything when he realizes the trail's gone cold. He turns in a circle, glancing briefly at the cat and then trying to step past it, looking in the direction it came from for any sign of a trail or open door ]

[the cat's no longer a cat when he glances back at it. it's a grizzled, elderly man, with enough similarity in feature he must be related to Charon.]
