[it's a goddamn maze in here. you have a sense at least of consistent downward movement, like you're heading deep underground. your light crosses small office doors set at regular intervals as you turn and walk and turn again, but all of them are unlabelled. some have suspicious marks on them now and again though: dark stains, bullet holes, great splintering gouges from blades or claws.]

[he gets flashes of memory, thankfully without the attendant pain as long as he doesn't go through the doors they belong to. being stabbed. sitting in the pasture grass seeing people dying, dying, dying in front of him, coming back to life, dying again, over and over and over. being gut-shot. lying on the grass bleeding out and then getting a spear through the back, the blinding shock of it.

eventually the footprints fade out. they haven't led him to a definitive door, just the middle of a random hallway, so he might feel stymied for a moment.
